The postgraduate thesis is a research study carried out by the student as part of their MSc program. It is overseen by a supervisor professor and supported by an advisory committee, of two more teaching staff members. The aim is to investigate a topic related to the program in depth, either to generate new scientific knowledge or to apply existing knowledge in a practical way.
At the end of the second semester of studies in May, students are invited to declare their intention to undertake either an internship and independent studies or a postgraduate dissertation.
For a Master's Thesis you must provide the following:
- Application form of the proposed thesis and the proposed thesis proposal (Article 8 of Law 1599/1986)

Dissertation Completion & Support
After completing the M.D.E., students submit copies of their final project and proof of plagiarism checks via the Turnitin application to their supervisor and the members of the Examination Committee, together with a declaration of authenticity.
The thesis is presented in public before the committee on dates determined by the MSc Coordinating Committee (February, June or September), provided that the student has successfully completed all courses.
If the evaluation is negative, the student is given the opportunity to improve or resubmit in the next examination period. There is also the possibility of changing the subject and supervisor in the next academic year.
Postgraduate students are obliged to publish the M.D.E. or part of it:
- Either in a reputable scientific journal (print or electronic), in the country or abroad, which has a scientific committee and whose articles are judged by an independent review process;
- or to present it (orally or in poster form) at a scientific conference, symposium or workshop in the country or abroad with proceedings.
After the completion and presentation of the Master's thesis, some documents should also be submitted. Please refer to the Program’s Secretariat for more information.
