An independent study is a small-scale research project carried out by a student in collaboration with a supervisor. The aim is to produce and analyze results on a subject of mutual scientific interest, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the development of research skills.
Every student who chooses to undertake an internship will also complete two independent studies.
At the end of the second semester of studies in May, students are invited to declare their intention to undertake either an internship and independent studies or a postgraduate dissertation.
To undertake an Independent Studies I & II, you must submit the following:

All of these forms must be completed and signed after being discussed with the student's collaborating professor. Then, please send them to: tefaa_tourdance@phyed.duth.gr
Each graduate student must submit the results of their independent studies, or a part of them:
- Either in a reputable scientific journal (print or electronic), in Greece or abroad, which has a scientific committee and publishes articles that have been judged by an independent peer review process.
- Or they must have announced the results (either orally or in the form of a poster) at a scientific conference, symposium or workshop in Greece or abroad, with proceedings.
